Craft fairs

Fair Directory

Where our fairs come from

Makers share the fairs they know, organizers list their own, and every night we read the public calendars and festival lists below and list the art and craft fairs on them. Each fair links back to where it was found; from these calendars we copy only its name, dates and place, and, from calendars whose owners agreed, the hours, booth fee and last day to apply on its flyer or its page.

How we read them

Our reader calls itself MartsAndCraftsFairFinder. It follows each site’s robots.txt, reads a calendar about once a day, and waits between requests.

Google’s event listings come to us through DataForSEO: each night we look up the craft fairs Google lists in a few states, every state once a week, and list them the same way, keeping a fair’s name, dates, place and link, and reading its few words only for their facts.

When a calendar or festival list links to a fair’s own website, when we add a fair’s own web page ourselves, or when a calendar whose owner agreed lists the fair, the same reader visits that page about once a month while the fair is missing its hours, booth fee, last day to apply, where to apply or a few words about it, and fills in only what is blank. A booth fee or last day to apply from a fair’s own website waits for a member to confirm it. We keep those facts, and we never read social or ticket sites.

Every fair still to come gets a sentence or two about it in our own words: from its own page when we can read it, otherwise from what we know of it and what its listing says. We never copy anyone’s sentences.

Run one of these calendars and want us to stop, or to fix a fair? Tell us and we will. Know another calendar that lists fairs? Members can add it on Add a Craft Fair.
